Lipscomb University has announced the dates and theme for one of the students’ most cherished traditions — Singarama — on April 5-7, 2018. This year’s theme is “It Takes Two.”

Singarama 18_preAOver the last 55 years, more than 16,000 Lipscomb students have participated in Singarama. Armed only with their category title, students in each group develop storylines, write scripts, choose a minimum of eight songs complete with accompanying choreography, and design and create sets and costumes.

The show includes three mini-musicals performed by Lipscomb’s 13 social clubs and friends. The shows are evaluated by a panel of 18 judges in three categories (theme, music and staging) and in overall sweepstakes points, says Laurie Sain,  assistant dean of student life and producer of Singarama.

This year’s mini-musical categories include:

  • “Fun and Games” featuring the Delta Omega, Delta Sigma, Delta Nu, Sigma Omega Sigma and Tau Phi social clubs and friends;

  • “Name and Address” featuring the Alpha Zeta, Gamma Lambda, Phi Sigma and Sigma Iota Delta social clubs and friends; and

  • “Rise and Fall” featuring the Kappa Chi, Phi Nu, Pi Delta and Theta Psi social clubs and friends.

“Over the last three years I have looked forward to seeing our students showcase their many talents,” she said. “The relationships and memories I have seen formed during the production and performances are priceless.”
